Amritsar-Punjab BJP spokesperson Prof. Sarchand Singh Khaila has strongly condemned the threats being sent targeting Sachkhand Shri Darbar Sahib. He said that Sri Darbar Sahib is the center of traditions, spirituality, common culture and human faith of Sikhism, where God has been glorified continuously through Kirtan for the last four centuries. It is a pilgrimage site that attracts not only Sikh devotees but also spiritually inclined people of other religions who aspire to visit it. Half of Sikh history is centered around Sri Darbar Sahib. He said that any kind of lapse in the security of Shri Darbar Sahib can have fatal consequences at the national and international level.Prof. Sarchand Singh said that on the one hand, Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann are introducing the “Prevention Bill for Desecration of Holy Books” in the Punjab Legislative Assembly by resorting to religious sentiments, while on the other hand, despite 5 threatening emails regarding the bombing of Sachkhand Sri Harimandir Sahib, neither the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, nor Kejriwal nor the DGP have come to Sri Darbar Sahib and paid their respects. This is not only administrative negligence, but also exposes the non-seriousness, insensitivity, double strategy and real intention of the government towards Sikhism and Punjabis.
The question is that when Sachkhand is being threatened, why is the Chief Minister’s heart so callous towards Shri Darbar Sahib?
When the spiritual center of Sikhism is being targeted, the chief minister’s silence and absence shows that he has no place in his heart for religious sensitivities.
When mischievous elements are plotting to harm the Gurghar, it is the moral duty of the Chief Minister to go to the spot and show solidarity. But the government has failed to fulfill its emotional and social responsibility.
Prof. Sarchand Singh said that the BJP and the central government have taken this matter very seriously. He said that on behalf of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, BJP’s former state president and former Rajya Sabha MP Shwet Malik met the chairman of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sardar Harjinder Singh Dhami and expressed the concern of the central government and his confidence in all possible cooperation.
Prof. Sarchand Singh said that the threats being received by Sachkhand Sri Harimandir Sahib are not just emails, but an open attack on Sikh faith, Punjabi and national unity.
These threats are not just against a religious structure, but a planned attack on Sikhism, Punjab’s cultural heritage and the fabric of India’s spiritual identity.
The purpose of these threats is to instill fear in the minds of people by creating an atmosphere of terror and prevent them from going on religious pilgrimage.
This is a deep conspiracy to break the common culture of Punjab and spread misunderstandings in the society — to which the brotherhood of Punjab will surely respond.
He said that till now there is no clue of these conspirators which raises serious questions on the capacity of the state government.
There is a dire need to expose and crack down on the active disturbing peace and anti-cult forces behind the incidents.
Earlier in May 2023 also on the 6th, 8th and 11th of May 2023, people have not forgotten the night-time bomb blasts near Shri Guru Ramdas Sarai on Virasat Marg and Corridor — which exposed the huge flaws in the security arrangements.
