Ghanaur-Ghanaur constituency in-charge Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer informed the press today that the Aam Aadmi Party made every possible attempt to prevent Shiromani Akali Dal candidates from filing their nomination papers. However, despite all these tactics, Akali candidates successfully submitted their nomination papers in 15 out of 16 zones of Ghanaur and 14 out of 19 zones of the Shambhu area.
He said that seeing the strong, rising support for the Akali Dal in the villages, the Aam Aadmi Party government has become extremely nervous. In this panic, the government is getting workers and candidates subjected to bullying and intimidation.
Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer stated that during the nomination process, AAP workers—allegedly with official backing—snatched and tore the nomination papers of Akali Dal candidates, while the police manhandled Akali workers. All of this happened under government pressure and is a direct violation of the democratic process.
He added that if the Aam Aadmi Party had done any good work in the past, they would not be afraid of free and fair elections today. Jhinjer expressed full confidence that the people of Ghanaur are fed up with the government’s oppressive policies and that this time AAP will face a heavy defeat, while the Shiromani Akali Dal will win by a large margin.
Referring to the recently leaked audio recording of the SSP and other officials, Jhinjer said that the recording clearly proves that the police administration, in collusion with the Aam Aadmi Party, is trying to influence the election process. This recording is evidence of the biggest betrayal of democracy.
He demanded that to ensure free and fair elections, Central Security Forces must be deployed before polling and on polling day, so that any pressure, intimidation, or illegal interference by AAP or the police during voting can be prevented.
Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer made it clear that the Akali Dal will not tolerate any form of coercion, hooliganism, or illegal interference and stands firmly like a rock with every worker and candidate.
