American law enforcement agencies have arrested five individuals — including an Indian-origin couple — for their alleged involvement in drug distribution and sex trafficking at the Red Carpet Inn in Dumfries, Virginia. All five accused were produced in court on Friday on federal charges connected to criminal activities taking place in and around the motel.
The Indian-origin couple has been identified as 52-year-old Kosha Sharma and 55-year-old Tarun Sharma, who operated the motel through their company, Kosha LLC, doing business as Red Carpet Inn. The three other suspects have been named as Margo Waldon Pierce, also known as Marko (51), Joshua Roderick, aka Josh (40), and Rashard Perrish Smith, also known by aliases Sean/Shawn, B, B-more, or Baltimore (33).
According to court documents, the Sharmas have leased and managed the motel since May 2023. Investigators allege that the couple knowingly allowed illegal operations to flourish on the third floor of the building and took a share of the profits generated through drug sales and prostitution.
Between May 28, 2025, and December 17, 2025, law enforcement agencies conducted multiple undercover operations at the motel. These included nine prostitution encounters and 15 controlled drug purchases — 11 involving fentanyl and four involving cocaine.
In an official statement, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Lindsey Halligan emphasized the severity of the offenses, stating that drug and sex trafficking “devastate communities by exploiting vulnerable individuals and fueling violence and addiction.” She reaffirmed the federal commitment to dismantling criminal networks that profit from human suffering.
The investigation is being conducted jointly by the FBI, the Prince William County Police Department, and the Virginia State Police. Reid Davis, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office’s Criminal Division, thanked law enforcement partners for advancing a case aligned with one of the bureau’s top priorities — combating violent crime. He added that the FBI will continue working with federal and local agencies to dismantle trafficking operations and bring offenders to justice.
If convicted, all five accused face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. Final sentencing decisions will be made by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and statutory requirements.
