North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), Raises Concerns Over Gurdaspur Encounter

Serious questions are being raised about the veracity of the recent alleged police encounter in Gurdaspur. Satnam Singh Chahal, Executive Director of the North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), has expressed deep concern over the troubling claims made by the victim’s family.

According to the family, the Gurdaspur Police allegedly picked up the youth, took him into custody, and later shot him dead in what they believe to be a staged encounter. Even more disturbing are the allegations that the police removed CCTV cameras from the surrounding area where the youth was initially detained—an act that raises further suspicion and undermines transparency.

Chahal stated that these allegations are extremely serious and cannot be brushed aside. He stressed that only an independent and impartial investigation—free from police or political influence—can uncover the truth and ensure justice for the victim’s family. He further added that such incidents erode public trust in law enforcement and create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among citizens.

Chahal urged the Punjab government to immediately constitute a fair probe so that facts can come out and accountability can be established.
