Chandigarh(Sandeep Singh Chahal)Senior Congress leader and MLA Pargat Singh, serving as AICC Secretary for Jammu & Kashmir Affairs, joined party colleagues, including Divya Maderna and the senior leadership of the Indian National Congress Jammu & Kashmir, at a press conference held at the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters in Jammu. The event was organised in support of the nationwide student-driven campaign titled “Chhatron Ki Goonj”.
Addressing the media, Pargat Singh said the movement reflects the growing concerns of students across India who are demanding an education system rooted in equality, opportunity, and empowerment. He echoed the views of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, stating that the current system must shift away from what he described as structures of “oppression and exploitation” and instead focus on creating a fair and inclusive framework for learning.
The Congress leaders emphasized that the objective of the movement is to ensure equal educational opportunities for all students, regardless of background, and to strengthen access to quality education. They stated that the initiative aims to amplify student voices and push for reforms that address disparities in the system.
Reiterating solidarity with the youth, Pargat Singh said the Congress party stands firmly with students’ aspirations and their demand for a more just and progressive education policy. He added that empowering young people through education is essential for building a stronger and more equitable future for the country.
