In the field of Punjabi literature, Many Punjabi books are published every year. The special thing is that the mainstream Punjabi literature (Punjab) as well as other states like; A large number of Punjabi books are also published in Haryana, Rajasthan, Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. It is a matter of happiness and pride that Punjabi is not a language limited to one state; Rather, it is a language spread throughout the world. Well!
The main purpose of our handwritten article is to briefly discuss the Punjabi books published in Haryana during the year 2024. So to discuss any other side would be misleading the relevant topic. But! This article will be incomplete without talking about the awards announced for Punjabi writers in Haryana in the year 2024.
Announcement of awards to Punjabi writers: ─
In the year 2024, ‘Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Academy’ Panchkula (Haryana Government) has announced awards to the Punjabi writers of Haryana. Although the prize is not yet received but! With this announcement, the Punjabi writers of Haryana have definitely received encouragement because for the last six-seven years no prizes were given to Punjabi writers. Now the awards from 2017 to 2022 have been announced.
Punjabi books published in Haryana during the year 2024: ─

Anupinder Singh Anup ─ Harichanduri and Ghungru broke
Poet Anupinder Singh Anup’s poetry collection ‘Harichanduri’ contains a total of 48 poems, stanzas, couplets and dialogues. The poet does not dream of heaven in his poems but he wants to make this earth a heaven. In the second book ‘Ghungru Tut Gaye’, the Urdu ghazals of the poet ‘Qatil Shifai’ have been translated into Punjabi.
Iqbal Singh Hamjapur ─ Heritage Haryana and Mintu’s wisdom
Iqbal Singh Hamjapur’s book ‘Heritage Haryana’ has illustrated articles about the ancient forts, havelis and buildings of Haryana. The author has tried to preserve these historical places of Haryana through pen.
In the second book ‘Mintu Di Gwanap’, psychological stories related to children have been penned. In these stories, there is an attempt to guide children, away from miracles.
Surjit Singh Sirdi ─ Soil question
While reading Surjit Singh Sirdi’s poetry collection ‘Mitti Kare Saal’, it seems that the poet’s ‘thought’ is not limited to any one religion or community but he talks about every section of the society;
“Des mere di zarkhez zamane, Ashke!
Not only crops grow from your womb / bright people also grow. ” (soil question)
Surjit Sirdi’s poetry can be called serious and mature poetry. His love for soil can be seen in his poems.
Harnoor ─ Let’s see for love
In Harnoor Singh Virk’s first poetry collection ‘Mohbat Karke Dekhiye’, Ishq’s words can be read;
“Let’s make love and see
Let’s swim across the ocean. (Let’s see with love)
Harnoor’s poems and speech give glimpses of Punjab. Harnoor’s poetry will mature further in the future; This is the hope.
Kesara Ram ─ Good
In Kesara Ram’s novel ‘Guddo’, a fictional account of women’s oppression has been presented in various layers of caste conflict in the strata of rural society. The situations, characters and their performances in the novel are close to reality.
Kesara Ram is a 2020 ‘Dhahan Award’ winning storyteller for his collection of stories ‘Zanani Poad’.
Kulwant Kaur Sandhu ─ Without mothers-in-law, the generations are dying
In Kulwant Kaur Sandhu’s folk song collection ‘Sassan Bajh Na Generaan Dhindian Je’, about one and a half to two hundred folk songs dedicated to the relationship between brothers and sisters have been included;
“When I was young, my parents went to Veera
The parents walked away. “(Generations do not perish without mothers-in-law)
Earlier, the writer’s collection of folk songs ‘Kite Mil Ni Maen’ has been published.
Dr. Kulwinder Singh Padam ─ Kookdi Kunj
Dr. Kulwinder Singh Padam’s Punjabi drama ‘Kookdi Koonj’ has highlighted the stains on the ‘purity of blood relations’. Earlier, Kulwinder Padam’s (two) Punjabi plays ‘Khazana Khali Hai’ and ‘Rishte Rulan Adalatin’ have been published. While Padma’s plays are successful in book form, they also leave a deep impression on the minds of the audience on stage.
Gurdayal Singh Nimr ─ Sitting Sodhi Patisah
In Gurdayal Singh Nimar’s seventh epic poem ‘Baitha Sodhi Patsah’, a narrative of Guru Ramdas ji’s life character, works, merits, efforts and efforts made for the progress and popularization of Sikhism has been presented in a historical and religious context.
Charan Puadhi ─ World Child Folk-tales and heroic children of India
In Charan Puadhi’s book ‘Bharat de Veer Balak Pushta’, the stories of heroic children of the country have been included. Chinese, Japanese folk stories are included in ‘World Children’s Folk Tales’. The special thing is that both these books are related to children’s literature. In the works of Charan Puadhi, the color of Puadha can be read in special form.
Joginder Kaur Agnihotria ─ Come and see the beauty of my village
Joginder Kaur Agnihotri in her book In ‘Aja Mere Pind Di Nuhar Dekh Lay’, the history of his native village ‘Kot Lallu’ has been narrated. In the second book, the children’s novel ‘Jagga’, the ideas and sentiments generated in children’s minds are depicted. Tarlochan Mir ─ Dagger
Reading Tarlochan Mir’s ghazal-collection ‘Khanjar’, it seems that the spirit of rebellion is strong within him. He feels uncomfortable with the loss of human values in his works;
“Angry sun angry river
What a terrible century. ” (dagger)
Mir’s pen creates deep meaning. He wants to free his neighborhood from corruption, bribery and profiteering.
Dr. Birbal Singh ─ Katha Deep
Dr. Story-collection ‘Katha Deep’ edited by Birbal Singh, B. of ‘Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner’. A. is included in the syllabus of Dr. Birbal Singh is a resident of Haryana.
Dr. Strong force ─ Interwar
Dr. Balwan Aujla’s poetry collection ‘Antar Yudh’ has presented various aspects of the present day society. He has expressed the peasant problems in emotional terms;
“I looked at the straw barn / happened to be there and said more
Paya Karma sews in a corner / Plays with mud and clay. ” (Civil War)
Balwan Aujla’s poetry is humanity’s own poetry. In his poems, where he talks about love, he also talks about infanticide, environmental protection, the message of connecting with one’s roots, the love of a young age and peasant difficulties.
Meena Naveen ─ Marathi Jhalkara
Meena Naveen’s translated book ‘Marathi Jhalkara’ has a total of 14 Marathi stories. In these seven stories of ‘Kunda Jogwal’, four stories of ‘Jai Shri Joshi’ and ‘Dr. Uma Kampuwale’ contains three stories.
Reading ‘Marathi Jhalkara’ seems; The same concerns and problems that are present in Punjabi culture are also found in Marathi culture.
Rajini ─ Cool thorns
Rajini’s first story collection ‘Kule Kande’ contains a total of 50 Punjabi stories. Reading ‘Kule Kande’ awakens the reader’s human consciousness. This story-collection seems to be layered with tender sentiments, subtle sensations and deep thoughts.
Lakhwinder Singh Bajwa ─ How I became a writer and a pot plant
The characters in Lakhwinder Singh Bajwa’s story-collection ‘Ghamle Da Buta’ are from ordinary rural life. The narrator has deep experience of rural life. He himself is associated with Kirsani. That is why his stories are stories of common man.
In the literary autobiography ‘How I became a writer’, the author has described his life experience in simple terms. Starting from his childhood, he portrays the rising youth and old age very well.
