Amritpal Khattra, Gurtas Bhullar Arrested in Brampton Auto Theft Ring; Three Stolen Vehicles Recovered

BRAMPTON, ON – Three people have been arrested following a search warrant execution that uncovered an organized auto crime operation in Brampton, with investigators recovering three stolen vehicles equipped with fraudulent licence plates.

The Commercial Auto Crime Bureau concluded a month-long investigation on January 8, 2026, targeting an organized crime group allegedly involved in stealing vehicles, tractor trailers, and committing auto-related fraud across the Region of Peel.

Investigators launched their probe in December 2025 after identifying suspicious activity linked to multiple stolen vehicles and fraudulent documentation. The investigation led officers to a residence in Brampton, where they executed a search warrant earlier this month.

During the search, authorities discovered three previously reported stolen vehicles, all bearing counterfeit Ontario licence plates. The recovery marks a significant disruption to what police describe as a sophisticated auto theft network.

Amritpal Khattra, 28, of Brampton, faces the most serious charges in the case. He has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of possession of counterfeit mark, failing to comply with a release order, failing to comply with a probation order, attempted theft of motor vehicle, theft under $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, theft of motor vehicle, and break and enter.

Gurtas Bhullar, 33, also of Brampton, faces charges including attempted theft of motor vehicle, possession of break-in instruments, failing to comply with a release order, possession of property obtained by crime, theft of motor vehicle, and break and enter.

A third individual from Brampton was also arrested in connection with the investigation, though details about their charges have not been released.

The arrests come amid growing concern over organized auto theft rings operating throughout Ontario. Auto theft remains a persistent problem in the Greater Toronto Area, with criminal organizations increasingly using sophisticated methods to steal high-end vehicles and transport them for resale or export.

The Commercial Auto Crime Bureau continues to investigate the full extent of the operation and whether additional charges may be forthcoming. Anyone with information related to this investigation is encouraged to contact Peel Regional Police.
