Another blast in the border belt: Bajwa asks Mann to quit as HM

Chandigarh  ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : After an explosion occurred in the border belt, targeting the house of a policeman in Raimal village in Batala police district, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, on Tuesday, took a dig at the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for planning a crackdown on the Punjab Police. “If anyone at all is responsible for the deteriorated law and order situation in the border state, it is the Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, who also holds the home portfolio. Therefore, before making a reshuffle in the Punjab Police, CM Mann should think of stepping down as a home minister. The Home Minister is in charge of the Punjab Police overall and the police has failed terribly to prevent such attacks,” Bajwa added. Senior Congress Leader Bajwa said that this is the 12th such incident in Punjab since mid-November last year. It has been evident from the modus operandi that the Police stations and the Punjab Police personnel were the main targets of these blasts. The only message it conveyed was that if the Punjab Police under Home Minister Bhagwant Mann cannot protect itself, how can they protect the general Public? Mann has brought a bad name to the Punjab Police. “It is not only organised crime that has been giving sleepless nights to the Punjabis and business community in particular but the rapidly rising drug abuse and drug peddling has also perturbed the Punjabi families. Does he want to turn Punjab into Mexico?” In a statement, Bajwa said that Bhagwant Mann has been proven to be the inefficient home minister of Punjab and it is high time, he quit the post of HM.
