Region of Peel – In a significant development aimed at addressing growing concerns around gun-related violence, officers from the 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) executed search warrants at a Brampton residence, leading to the arrest of 37-year-old Tejinder Singh Kahlon and the laying of multiple criminal charges.
Over the past year, Peel Regional Police responded several times to reports of firearm-related incidents at a residence near Conservation Drive and Dawnridge Trail in Brampton. These repeated occurrences not only endangered local residents but also raised widespread alarm about escalating violence in nearby neighbourhoods.
Taking proactive steps to ensure public safety, investigators secured judicial authorization to search the residence linked to the incidents.
On November 12, officers executed the warrants and arrested Tejinder Singh Kahlon. He was held for a bail hearing and is now facing several serious charges, including:
-
Breach of Probation
-
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
-
Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
-
Carrying a Concealed Weapon
-
Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition
-
Intentionally Discharging a Firearm Recklessly
Police say no additional details can be released at this stage, as the investigation remains active.
Peel Regional Police acknowledge the concern such incidents cause in the community and emphasize their ongoing commitment to ensuring all individuals involved are held fully accountable under the law.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant. Anyone witnessing suspicious activity, unlawful behaviour, or violence in their neighbourhood is encouraged to report it immediately. Swift reporting, police say, plays a vital role in maintaining safe and secure communities.
