At least 15 injured after Delta Airlines plane crash lands at Canada airport, flips upside down

A Delta Airlines flight, carrying 80 people onboard, crashed while landing at the Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada with images showing the plane flipped upside down.The Delta Airlines plane 4819, which had 76 passengers and 4 crew members, departed from Minneapolis’ St. Paul International Airport and was bound for Ontario’s Toronto Pearson International Airport. All 80 people onboard the plane were evacuated but at least 15 people, including a child, were injured in the crash and two people are said to be in critical condition.

In a statement on X, the Toronto Pearson airport said, “Toronto Pearson is aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta Airlines plane arriving from Minneapolis. Emergency teams are responding. All passengers and crew are accounted for.”

A medical transport service, Ornge, said that it transported three people to different hospitals who were critically injured, including a “paediatric patient” and a man in his 60s, the BBC reported. The man in 60s was admitted to St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto while another patient was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto.The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a statement shortly after the plane crash landed at the Toronto Pearson airport and confirmed that all 80 people onboard the aircraft were evacuated and that the Transportation Safety Board of Canada will be in charge of the investigation.

The FAA said, “Delta Air Lines Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada around 14:45 local time.”Canada’s Transport Minister Anita Anand issued a statement on X and said that she was closely following the “serious incident” at Toronto airport involving Delta Airlines flight 4819 from Minneapolis.
