Brahmpura Terms Amit Shah’s Moga Rally “Political Drama-Brahmpura

Tarn Taran: Senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal and MLA from Khadoor Sahib, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, on Friday termed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Moga as “political drama” and “election tourism,” alleging that the Centre has remained a silent spectator on Punjab’s pressing issues while making lofty claims about development and corruption-free governance.
In a statement issued here, Brahmpura said that if the Union Home Minister is publicly claiming that a major ₹18 crore Panchayat development fund scam has taken place in Khadoor Sahib, the Central Government should immediately order a probe by agencies such as the CBI or the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He alleged that development funds meant for Punjab’s villages were misused under the patronage of leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and said that instead of making political statements, the Center should ensure an impartial investigation and bring the real culprits to justice.
Raising concerns over law and order and national security, Brahmpura referred to the recent incident in the border village of Adhian in Gurdaspur district, where a Punjab Police ASI and a Home Guard personnel were killed inside a police post, while an unarmed Sikh youth was murdered outside in an open field in connection with the same incident. He said the incident exposed serious security lapses and questioned why the Union Home Ministry has remained silent despite his formal petition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a high-level central investigation into the matter.
Brahmpura also criticized what he described as the BJP government’s “double standards” on Sikh issues. He questioned why Sikh prisoners, widely referred to as “Bandi Singhs,” who have already completed their sentences, have not been released, while Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has repeatedly been granted parole despite being convicted in serious criminal cases. He said such actions have raised serious concerns among sections of the Sikh community.
The SAD leader further said that the Aam Aadmi Party, Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party have all failed to safeguard Punjab’s interests. According to him, these parties have weakened the state’s resources and governance, while regional parties rooted in Punjab are better placed to protect its interests.
Brahmpura asserted that the Shiromani Akali Dal will continue to raise issues related to Punjab’s development, security and the protection of Panthic and federal rights
