Construction of Shri Ram Temple Symbolizes Revival of Sanatan Culture and an Awakening of National Consciousness: Mahant Ashish Das

Amritsar-Renowned saint of the Ramnandi Vaishnav tradition, Mahant Ashish Das Ji Maharaj, disciple of Mahant Nritya Gopal Das Ji Maharaj, the President of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Ayodhya, and head of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust, Mathura, visited Amritsar today.
During his visit, he met Dr. Joginder Singh Salaria, Founder of PCT Humanity, and Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala, BJP Punjab Spokesperson and Sikh thinker, at their residence. The meeting witnessed a profound discussion on spiritual values, national unity, and strengthening of Hindu-Sikh brotherhood.
Mahant Ashish Das Ji paid homage to the supreme sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Hind di Chadar “Shield of Hind” and praised the Guru tradition for its service and truth-based values. He stated that the construction of the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya is not merely a religious or cultural revival of Sanatan Dharma, but a step symbolizing an era of awakening—an expression of India’s shared civilizational soul.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude for the affection and respect he received in Punjab, Mahant Ashish Das said, “The soil of Punjab carries not only fragrance but also faith, reverence, and a shared spiritual spirit. I was embraced here not as a guest but as a family member.”
He further emphasized that both Sikh and Sanatan Vaishnav traditions rest upon the foundations of service, truth, and devotion. Quoting Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message of “Sarbat da Bhala” (Welfare of All), he said, “The purpose of religion is to unite, not divide. Any attempt to create discord between Hindus and Sikhs harms national unity.”
Mahant Ashish Das Ji also remarked that the sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus inspire him deeply and form the spiritual pride of the entire Indian civilization, not merely Punjab. Meeting Sikh Sangat, he felt that though traditions may appear distinct, their inner spirit is one—rooted in truth, love, and selfless service.
He thanked Prof. Khiala and Dr. Salaria for their hospitality and said he would soon return to Punjab to further strengthen interfaith and social cooperation.
On this occasion, Dr. Joginder Singh Salaria stated that PCT Humanity is devoted to serving humanity without discrimination and remains committed to promoting shared human and cultural values. He appreciated Mahant Ashish Das Ji’s role in strengthening Hindu-Sikh unity.
Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala, who is also the former Media Spokesperson of Damdami Taksal (Mehta), said that Sikhism and Sanatan Dharma are two inseparable pillars of Indian spirituality. Although their paths to truth may differ, their destination is one. He added that Ayodhya and Amritsar both represent the spiritual essence of Bharat, and the Punjab soil has always been a living symbol of brotherhood, bravery, tolerance, and spiritual inclusiveness.
At the event, Mahant Ashish Das Ji, Dr. Salaria, and Shri Shashank Bajaj, a disciple of Bageshwar Dham, were also honoured.
