IG Gurpreet Bhullar & SSP Viveksheel Soni conduct raid at Punjab-Himachal border area, 5 arrested

Sri Anandpur Sahib: On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, the Punjab Police has launched a state-wide search operation against drugs under which IG Rupnagar Range Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, SSP Vivek S Soni with STF teams on Tuesday conducted a live raid at Gambhirpur Khad-Mazari, a border area of Punjab Himachal.14 gazetted officers and 250 police personnel were involved in this raid.

Addressing the media on spot, he said that a campaign against drug smugglers is being conducted on a large scale under CASO (Cordon and Search Operation) under which raids have been conducted in various sensitive areas of Rupnagar on the basis of secret information.

He said that the police had received tip off that some people have set up an illcit liquor furnace at Gambhirpur Khad-Mazari in the border area of Punjab Himachal, they went to the spot and recovered 8 drums of raw liquor. Police teams are continuously searching for more recovery in the area.

Gurpreet Bhullar further said that under the search operation against drug traffickers, 5 accused have also been arrested by registering 6 cases today. Apart from this, 4 accused who were declared PO in different cases have been arrested. Under this search operation, 310 grams of heroin and drug money have also been seized.

SSP Viveksheel Soni said that 15 persons have been arrested separately to break the drug network. He said that our first priority is to throw behind the bars those who are ruining the lives of the youth.
