Northern Railway Rolls Out 34 Special Trains for Festive Season Passengers

NEW DELHI: As the festive season unfolds, Northern Railway is extending a helping hand to passengers seeking to celebrate the Puja festival with their families in their hometowns. Northern Railway General Manager, Shobhan Chaudhary, addressed the media at the Baroda House headquarters today, shedding light on the preparations for the 2023 festival season.

Shobhan Chaudhary explained that Northern Railway is committed to ensuring the comfort and convenience of train passengers during this festive period. To manage the surge of travelers and meet their holiday demands, the railway is currently operating 34 special trains with a total of 377 trips.

These special trains come equipped with 1,326 general class, 3,328 sleeper, and 2,513 AC coaches, providing diverse seating options for all categories of passengers. To further alleviate the passenger rush, an additional 152 coaches have been introduced across 69 trains, enhancing seat and berth availability.

These special train services are poised to serve thousands of passengers planning to journey to their hometowns for the festival season. Northern Railway alone is running 13 special trains with 174 trips, while other railway zones across the country have also introduced 21 special trains with 203 trips. These special trains will connect major cities and regions, including Patna, Chapra, Jogwani, Saharsa, Jainagar, Katihar, Guwahati, Darbhanga, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Baruni, Raxaul, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Lucknow, Kolkata, Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Amritsar, Saharanpur, Ambala, and more.
