Sunil Jakhar appointed president of BJP Punjab

Chandigarh: Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed Senior leader Sunil Jakhar as president of party’s Punjab Unit.

He will take over from Ashwani Sharma, party MLA from Pathankot.

It was out in the air that Jakhar is being appointed as president of State Unit of the BJP.

The outgoing president Ashwani Sharma had taken his belongings out from the party office in Chandigarh yesterday.

Jakhar, who was with Congress and had served as PPCC Chief had switched sides in May 2022 and joined BJP.

Jakhar had won on Congress ticket as MLA in 2002, 2007 and 2012 from Abohar Vidhan Sabha seat.

He also won Gurdaspur Parliamentary seat for Congress but lost to Sunny Deol of BJP in 2019 general elections.
