Former AIG Rachhpal Singh Arrested by ANTF Punjab in Balwinder Kuku Drug Case

Former AIG Rachhpal Singh, who once headed Punjab’s Special Task Force (STF) on drugs, has been arrested following his earlier suspension by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Punjab. At one point, Rachhpal Singh was a key officer in DGP Harpreet Singh Sidhu’s team, playing a central role in the state’s anti-drug operations. However, the tables have now turned, as he finds himself implicated in the high-profile Balwinder Kuku drug trafficking case of Tarn Taran, for which a detailed chargesheet has already been filed.

From the mention of this chargesheet, one is reminded of a serving DIG—also chargesheeted, yet still in service—believed to be among the “blue-eyed” officers shielded by political and bureaucratic influence. This unfolding development raises a pressing question in Punjab’s policing circles: who could be the next DIG to feature in the CBI’s next explosive story? The investigation, it seems, is just beginning.
