In a significant development, the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab has forwarded a detailed representation made by MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira to the Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, for appropriate action. The representation concerns alleged corruption in the procurement of 144 Toyota Hilux vehicles for the Sadak Surakhya Force by the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Khaira, in his complaint, has sought the registration of an FIR and a thorough investigation into what he terms a kickback-ridden scam in the purchase of the vehicles. The letter, dated 28 August 2025, has now been officially marked to the DGP, Punjab Police, Chandigarh, for necessary examination and follow-up action as per law.
Observers say the ball is now in the court of the Aam Aadmi Party government. The development puts the spotlight on the self-proclaimed “Kattar Imandaar” image of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his administration. It remains to be seen whether the government will allow a free and fair probe or attempt to bury the matter to protect its image.
As Khaira’s representation gains traction, many are watching closely to see if the Punjab Police will act independently and transparently on the Governor’s directions — or if this will become yet another test of the government’s commitment to honesty and accountability.
