Guru Teg Bahadur Public School Hazara celebrated International Mother Language Punjabi Day

Jalandhar-International Mother Language Punjabi Day was celebrated enthusiastically by all the staff and children at Guru Teg Bahadur Public School Hazara, which Guru Teg Bahadur Educational Trust runs. On this occasion, the children gave lectures on the importance of the mother language Punjabi, sang poems and sang songs dedicated to Punjabi culture like:

“Punjabi is a sweet language, I have not seen any other name, I will increase its value, I will go to school every day” and “Increase the fragrance of my mother language” and showed respect to their mother language Punjabi.

The school’s director Mrs. Nisha Marian and principal Mrs. Amital Kaur told the children about the importance of mother language and the need of the hour and said that children should emphasize on speaking Punjabi at home and at school. He further said that our mother tongue Punjabi is respected both in the country and abroad, so why not contribute to preserving the importance of our mother tongue Punjabi, which we have inherited.

The school secretary, S. Surjit Singh Ji, said that “If we forget our mother tongue, Punjabi, we will be like a hawk.” Our Satgurus have given pride to Punjabi mother tongue by giving it a place in their works. Without our mother tongue, even if we learn to speak and write many other languages of the world, we cannot acquire the proficiency in other languages that we can in our mother tongue. Nowadays, all of us are not giving due respect to our mother tongue. Since the color of Western civilization has come over us, we all do not like to speak our mother tongue at home, in schools, or in offices. Apart from our mother tongue, Punjabi, we prefer to speak in English and other languages. Any nation that does not value its mother tongue can never progress. He appealed that we should contribute our part to keep our mother tongue flourishing.
