Chandigarh – Sukhpal Khaira, MLA and Chairman of the All India Kissan Congress, slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for its shameless use of brute majority to intimidate, threaten, and gag opposition voices in the Vidhan Sabha. Khaira accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s shouting brigade of turning the democratic institution into a disgraceful theatre of verbal violence, where dissent is crushed without mercy.
Khaira singled out Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan as the mastermind of this nefarious policy, branding him a blatantly partisan figure who has abused the authority of his Chair to new lows. “On March 24, I was personally targeted when Sandhwan muzzled my voice, disallowing me from speaking during the time allotted to me by the Congress party to address the Governor’s speech,” Khaira said. “This was a cowardly move to silence me and an outright attack on the democratic rights of those I represent.”
Khaira further condemned the AAP’s tyranny, pointing to today’s events where the shouting brigade forced through a resolution against Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, effectively gagging him. “This is a grotesque misuse of the people’s mandate, reducing the Vidhan Sabha to a wrestling theatre where brute force drowns out reason,” Khaira said.
“I refuse to bow to these authoritarian tactics,” Khaira declared. “The AAP’s actions are a slap in the face to Punjab’s people, who elected us to speak, not to be silenced by a power drunk government.”
Khaira vowed to stand united with every opposition voice being choked by this regime and urged Punjab’s citizens to rise against this betrayal of democracy. “The AAP must answer for strangulating the very institution meant to reflect the will of the people,” he added.
