Law and Order Has Collapsed in Punjab; Neither Ruling Nor Opposition Leaders Are Safe – Tarun Chugh

Chandigarh-BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government over the spiraling law and order crisis in Punjab, pointing to the recent firing incident in Faridkot and the violent unrest in Dera Bassi as alarming indicators of the state’s deepening governance failure.

Chugh expressed grave concern that the situation has deteriorated to such an extent that not even political leaders—whether from the ruling party or the opposition—are safe anymore. He cited the recent grenade attack on senior BJP leader and former minister Manoranjan Kalia’s residence in Jalandhar as a stark example of rising criminal audacity and political violence.

Chugh said that in Faridkot’s Puhulwella village, Jaswant Singh Sodhi, a sarpanch affiliated with the Aam Aadmi Party, was brutally shot multiple times outside his residence. This shocking act of political violence has further exposed the deteriorating security scenario in Punjab.

He also recalled the October 2024 incident in Jalalabad, Fazilka, where AAP-backed candidate Mandeep Singh Brar was shot during a clash with SAD workers. These are not isolated events but part of a larger pattern of lawlessness engulfing the state.

In Dera Bassi, Chugh noted, a violent clash stemming from an illegal mining dispute led to an attack on a hospital, forcing doctors to go on strike and patients to flee the premises in the middle of the night. Such incidents reflect the complete collapse of public safety under the current regime.

Tarun Chugh criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for being preoccupied with hosting failed Delhi leaders while Punjab burns in the fire of crime, chaos, and political vendettas. He demanded immediate action to restore law and order and ensure the safety of the people of Punjab.
