NAPA Condemns Alleged Mass Conversion of Sikhs in Uttar Pradesh, Urges SGPC and Chief Minister’s Immediate Intervention

Milpitas( California)The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) strongly condemns the reported mass conversion of approximately 3,000 Sikhs to Christianity in the Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. These alleged conversions, brought to light by the All India Sikh Punjabi Welfare Council, raise serious concerns about the methods being used and the potential targeting of vulnerable Sikh families.

Satnam Singh Chahal, Executive Director of NAPA, stated:

“This is not just a religious issue—it is an alarming violation of communal harmony and individual freedom of faith. If these conversions are indeed taking place through inducement or coercion, they must be condemned unequivocally and investigated thoroughly.”

NAPA urgently appeals to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to take immediate cognizance of the situation and dispatch a fact-finding team to Pilibhit. Furthermore, NAPA calls upon the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, to initiate a high-level inquiry and ensure that those responsible for any illegal conversions are brought to justice.

“We stand with the Sikh community of Pilibhit and urge both state and religious institutions to uphold the sanctity and dignity of all faiths,” Chahal added. “Targeting the socio-economically weaker sections of any community to achieve religious conversions is unethical and unacceptable.”

NAPA reiterates its commitment to protecting the rights and spiritual freedom of Sikhs globally and will continue to monitor developments closely.
