Mumbai/Amritsar -Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, the Government of Maharashtra is working seriously to fulfill the needs and aspirations of the Sikh community. This is the first time that the State Minority Development Department has taken a historic step in itself by organizing a workshop on government run minority welfare schemes specifically for the Sikh community and minorities. The workshop was organized by the Department of Minority Development in collaboration with the Maharashtra Punjabi Sahitya Akademi, State Minority Commission and the 11-member Sikh Coordination Committee at the Government Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. The workshop was presided over by the Chief Secretary of the State Mr. Ruchish Jayavanshi and was attended by Mr. Jaspal Singh Sidhu, President of the 11-member Sikh Coordination Committee, Mr. Bal Malkeet Singh, Executive President of Maharashtra Punjabi Sahitya Akademi, Mr. Charandeep Singh Happy, Member of the Maharashtra State Minorities Commission and dignitaries from Nashik, Nagpur, Pune, Nanded, Hingoli, Mumbai, MMR and Navi Mumbai. The workshop was very useful and enlightening, through which the community members were informed about the government schemes, which would prove helpful to them in the future.
On this occasion, the organizer of the workshop and the chairman of the 11-member Sikh Coordination Committee Mr. Jaspal Singh Sidhu said that the Devendra Fadnavis government of Maharashtra is committed to fulfill the aspirations of the Sikh community and the minorities. He said that this is a historic initiative of the government towards Sikhs. He exhorted to move towards the future with unity, solidarity and awareness.
