Union Government to Transfer ₹166 Crore Directly into Flood Victims’ Accounts

New Delhi – The Union Government has announced that ₹166 crore will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of families affected by the recent floods. The financial assistance will be released through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to ensure that compensation reaches victims quickly and without leakages.

Union Home Minister said, “The Government of India stands firmly with every family affected by the floods. By using DBT, we are making sure that not a single rupee is lost to corruption or middlemen. Relief will go straight to the people who need it most.”

Explaining the rationale behind this mechanism, a senior official from the Ministry of Finance stated, “In the past, disaster relief often got delayed or diluted by layers of bureaucracy. The DBT system ensures accountability and transparency while empowering families to use the funds according to their immediate needs.”

The ₹166 crore package is aimed at covering losses to homes, crops, and livestock. Beneficiary lists, prepared by district administrations and verified by state authorities, are being finalised for immediate disbursement.

Union Minister for Rural Development [Name] added, “This is not charity, but rightful compensation for people who have suffered because of a natural calamity. The Centre is committed to providing timely support so that families can rebuild their lives.”

Officials emphasized that this direct transfer model reflects a larger policy shift by the Union Government, which increasingly relies on technology-driven solutions to deliver welfare and relief benefits. By reducing bureaucratic hurdles, the Centre hopes to set a new standard for disaster assistance across the country.
