MANIPUR: The state of Manipur is grappling with a horrifying incident where two women have been captured on video walking around naked, igniting a wave of anger and concern across the nation. The shocking visuals have been circulating on social media with the hashtag #ManipurViolence, drawing widespread condemnation.
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) has come forward, alleging that the two women were subjected to a brutal gang rape in a farm. The organization is urging the Women’s Commission and the ST Commission to take swift action in response to this deeply distressing matter. Both women belong to the Kuki tribe, according to the forum’s claims.
Prominent Congress leaders, Priyanka Gandhi and Alka Lamba, have vehemently opposed the appalling incident and are calling upon all parliamentarians to address the issue of women’s persecution in Manipur during the upcoming Monsoon session. Their appeal is to ensure that this grave matter receives due attention and action in the House.
Manipur Police have confirmed that the viral video indeed shows two women amidst a crowd, devoid of any clothes. A case has been registered at Nangpok Sakmai Police Station, and authorities are actively pursuing the search for the accused individuals involved in this horrifying crime.
