Actor R. Madhavan Assumes Presidency of FTII; Receives Congratulations from Anurag Thakur

New Delhi: Renowned Actor R. Madhavan has been appointed as the new President of the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). This appointment comes following the conclusion of filmmaker Shekhar Kapur’s tenure on March 3, 2023. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting officially announced Madhavan’s appointment and issued a press statement in this regard, highlighting the actor’s new role in shaping the institute’s future.

Expressing his best wishes, Anurag Thakur, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, congratulated R. Madhavan on his new role. Thakur stated, “Congratulations to R. Madhavan on being nominated as the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of FTII. I hope the organization will benefit from your experience, and I believe that you will take this esteemed institution to even greater heights.”

In response to Minister Thakur’s congratulatory message, R. Madhavan expressed his gratitude, saying, “I want to thank you deeply for this honor. I will try my best to live up to everyone’s expectations.”

R. Madhavan’s appointment as the President of FTII marks a significant milestone in his career, further showcasing his diverse talents and contributions to the world of Indian cinema. The actor has recently been in the spotlight due to his film “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,” which received the National Award for Best Film in 2021.

Notably, “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” is a compelling biographical film that narrates the life journey of former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan. It delves into the challenges he faced, including false accusations of sedition, and his triumphant comeback as he contributed to India’s space program, particularly in the development of the PSLV rocket engine.
