Chandigarh – Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Mr. Harchand Singh Barsat has been appointed as the Chairman of National Council of State Agricultural Marketing Board (KAUSAMB), New Delhi for his exemplary work for the marketing system of Punjab . It was announced today by the Managing Director of Kausamba. J. S. Yadav during the ceremony organized at Kisan Bhawan. S. Harchand Singh Barsat has become the 21st Chairman of Kausamba. During this time Mr. Aditya Devilal Chautala , MLA Dabwali , Haryana and former chairman Kausamba on behalf of Mr. Harchand Singh Barsat was formally handed over the reins of Kausamba. On this occasion Dr. Barsat J. S. He thanked all the officials of Kausamba including Yadav and assured that they will fulfill the responsibility assigned to them with full diligence.
- Barsat said that farmersfeed everyone by producing different types of crops , that’s why they are called Annadata. Various types of vegetables , fruits and grains are produced by the farmers . From the farmer’s produce to the arrival of the crop in the market and delivering it to the consumer’s house is clear It is very important to be in a manner. He said that today it is necessary to weave the mandi system of all India into one garland and we can do better by upgrading the mandikaran system in India. It will be run in a manner so that all classes including farmers , farmers, laborers, traders can get the benefit of it. He said that all over India, the market system should be improved through modern technologies to do New efforts to work for the good of people will be done , for this we will all work unitedly , so that every class can benefit from it.
He said that for better marketing of agricultural products, mutual coordination between the states is necessary these days. Because there are many agricultural products , which are produced in large quantities in one state , while in other states there are only few . For example, Punjabi kinnu , potatoes , peas etc. go to different states of the country. Therefore, these products may fetch higher prices in other states. On behalf of Kausamba, such measures will be taken to develop such a system in various states , so that the farmers of Punjab can directly sell their crops in other states. Along with this, special attention will be given to the marketing of organic products. He further said that decreasing land for cultivation and falling water level is a matter of concern. Together with Kausamba, works will be done to make the barren land fertile and maintain the water level. He said that national level agricultural marketing policy is being considered. Apart from this, a committee will be formed , which will include various eminent personalities related to agricultural marketing.
He said that the purchase/sale of agricultural produce in the state is regulated by the Punjab Market Board and a modern agricultural marketing system has been developed , which has around 1900 fixed markets under 156 market committees and farmers’ markets during the season. Keeping in view the convenience, about 2000 temporary procurement centers are also opened , so that the farmers do not have to go far to sell their produce. For the farmers’ produce to reach the markets in the right way , about 64000 km long roads have been established in the state by the Mandi Board . He said that open bidding is conducted in markets to give farmers the right price for their crops . Farmers are also being paid for their crops directly into their bank accounts.
He said that special efforts are being made by the Punjab Mandi Board for the development of mandis and the welfare of farmers. Punjab Market Committees , Field Offices and Covered Sheds of Mandis have started installation of solar systems , ATMs in Mandis . Installation of covered sheds in markets at very low rates for off-season weddings and other activities Making provision for children’s development Covered sheds of mandis for indoor games during off-season, income of about Rs . has been done
Mr. Aditya Devilal Chautala He congratulated Harchand Singh Barsat on becoming the chairman of Kausamba and said that Mr. The work done by Barsat during his tenure to improve the marketing system in Punjab is commendable.
