Milpitas(California) – The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) Executive Directive Satnam Singh Chahal strongly condemns the unjust arrest of journalist Ajit Singh Saini from Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh, who was detained for fearlessly reporting on corruption. This is a direct attack on press freedom and an attempt to suppress the truth. Ajit Singh Saini was fulfilling his duty as a journalist by exposing corruption and informing the public. His arrest is not only a violation of his rights but also an alarming sign of increasing intimidation against independent media. Journalism is the backbone of democracy, and silencing journalists through wrongful arrests is unacceptable.
Chahal demands the immediate and unconditional release of Ajit Singh Saini. He urges higher authorities to uphold the principles of justice, freedom of expression, and press freedom. The government must ensure that journalists can work without fear of persecution. Chahal calls upon international media organizations, human rights groups, and free speech advocates to take note of this injustice and stand in solidarity with Ajit Singh Saini. A free press is essential for a just society, and any attempt to suppress it must be strongly opposed.
