Bramton (Canada)Region of Peel police have arrested and charged five men from Brampton following a violent tow truck–related dispute that left three people injured, including two who required medical treatment. The arrests stem from an incident that occurred on October 31, 2025, in the busy industrial area near Kennedy Road South and Orenda Road.
According to police, officers from the 22 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau responded to reports of a physical altercation involving multiple tow truck operators. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located three victims who had been assaulted during the confrontation. Investigators allege that the victims were attacked with a metal pole, while two of them were also sprayed with bear spray, causing injuries serious enough to require medical attention.
Following what police described as a thorough and ongoing investigation, arrests were made on January 14, 2026. The accused face a range of serious charges linked to violence, threats, and the use of weapons during the dispute.
Rishav Chopra, 27, has been charged with uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death, assault, two counts of assault causing bodily harm, two counts of administering a noxious substance with intent to cause bodily harm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Jashandeep Singh, 34, is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and three counts of assault with a weapon.
Harmandeep Singh, 27, faces two counts of assault.
Tajinder Chopra, 20, and Varun Aul, 32, have each been charged with assault.
Police confirmed that all five accused were released on an undertaking with conditions and are expected to appear in court at a later date. The investigation highlights ongoing concerns around violence and territorial disputes within the tow truck industry in the Greater Toronto Area, an issue that law enforcement agencies have repeatedly warned can pose serious risks to public safety.
Authorities say the matter remains before the courts, and all accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
