Jhinjar expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the tragic death of a mother’s fifth son

Ghanaur—Youth Akali Dal President and Constituency Incharge Ghanaur, Sarabjit Singh Jhinjar, today expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the tragic death of a mother’s fifth son from Sultanpur Lodhi—all five of her sons succumbed to drug addiction. Jhinjar held the AAP government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann directly responsible for this heartbreaking tragedy, calling it a direct result of their criminal negligence and hollow anti-drug charade.

“This mother’s story is the story of Punjab. She has buried five sons. Five. And Bhagwant Mann is still busy making reels and press releases about the ‘War Against Drugs’ that exists on paper,” Jhinjhar said. “This woman’s pain is proof of your failure—never before has a government caused so much devastation and yet dared to call it a success.

Jhinjhar recalled that before the 2022 elections, Bhagwant Mann had made a solemn promise to the people of Punjab that he would eradicate drug addiction within four weeks of coming to power. Four years later, the ground reality tells a grim tale—chitta (heroin) has become four times more accessible, not less, and the scourge of drug addiction has taken deeper roots across the state.

Jhinjhar pointed out that AAP leaders themselves are being caught in the drug racket. Recently, a close associate of AAP’s Majha constituency in-charge, Talbir Singh, was arrested with 4 kg of drugs. In another shocking incident, the AAP sarpanch of Kalsi village was caught with 18 kg of heroin. “These are not isolated cases,” Jhinjhar said. “This is a dangerous nexus of AAP leaders, corrupt police, and drug traffickers—operating openly under the watchful eyes of the Chief Minister, who acts at the behest of Delhi.

He also reminded that the Congress government before AAP had promised to eradicate drug addiction by swearing on the Sikh holy book Gutka Sahib. That oath was broken. And now AAP has continued the same betrayal with more glossy marketing. “Mothers of Punjab are losing their sons.

Punjab’s youth is being wasted. And the government in power is busy with campaigns, slogans, and self-praise,” Jhinjhar said. “This isn’t governance—this is a crime against Punjab.

Jhinjhar demanded that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann immediately resign from his post, as he has completely and catastrophically failed in his most basic duty—protecting the youth and families of Punjab. “A Chief Minister who promised four weeks and delivered four years of devastation has no moral right to remain in office. Bhagwant Mann must resign,” Jhinjhar said.
