Khaira stated that if the obscene viral video of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann circulating on social media is indeed fake, then it is deeply puzzling why the Punjab Government has dithered in getting it verified from a forensic laboratory.
He reminded that in a similar case earlier, the then Governor of Punjab had ensured that the alleged sex tape of Minister Kattaruchak was verified from a forensic lab in Chandigarh. Therefore, Khaira questioned why the same transparency and urgency are missing in the present matter involving the Chief Minister himself.
Khaira further expressed surprise that the Mohali Court ordered the removal of the said video from social media platforms without any proper forensic verification. He observed that this judicial move, rather than bringing clarity, has only added to public confusion and speculation.
He said that without authentic verification, people are left uncertain about the truth, and such ambiguity damages public confidence and gives rise to unnecessary controversy.
Khaira asserted that forensic verification of the said video is vital, as the issue concerns the Chief Minister of Punjab, the highest constitutional office in the state. Even a slight iota of doubt, he said, could tarnish the image of Punjabis and Sikhs across the world.
He emphasized that to preserve the honour and dignity of Punjab, the Opposition demands immediate verification of the video by an independent and credible forensic laboratory outside Punjab to ensure neutrality and transparency.
Khaira reiterated that truth must prevail, and only a scientific forensic examination can end the prevailing confusion. He urged the Punjab Government to act without delay, send the video for independent verification, and make the findings public so that people know the facts and Punjab’s image is protected.
He concluded that this issue transcends politics and concerns the reputation and honour of the state of Punjab and its people
