Khaira Demands Judicial Probe into Mohali Murder, Slams Collapse of Law & Order, VIP Culture and Healthcare Failure

Chandigarh/Jalandhar-Senior Congress leader and MLA from Bholath, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, today expressed deep anguish and outrage over the brutal murder of young Gursewak Singh in Mohali, stating that the tragic incident has exposed the complete collapse of law and order in Punjab, the discriminatory functioning of the healthcare system, and the dangerous VIP culture prevailing under the Bhagwant Mann government.

Khaira said the incident raises extremely serious questions about the state’s policing system. “It is shocking that a police PCR vehicle was reportedly present near the crime scene, yet the attackers carried out the murder without fear. This reflects a complete breakdown of policing and sends a chilling message that no citizen is safe in Punjab,” he said.

The Congress leader further alleged gross medical negligence at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. He stated that when the critically injured victim was taken to the hospital, he was allegedly left unattended because medical staff and doctors were diverted to attend to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who had been admitted for alcohol-related health issues and was not in a life-threatening condition. “If timely medical attention had been provided to Gursewak Singh, his life could possibly have been saved. This is a tragic example of how VIP culture is costing the lives of ordinary citizens,” Khaira added.

Khaira also questioned the Aam Aadmi Party’s repeated claims of providing “world-class healthcare” in government hospitals. “If Punjab’s government hospitals are truly world-class, why does the Chief Minister repeatedly seek treatment at a high-end private hospital? This exposes the hollow claims and double standards of the AAP leadership,” he said.

Demanding accountability, Khaira called for a high-level judicial inquiry into:
• The law and order failure and police response at the crime scene
• The alleged medical negligence and lapses at Fortis Hospital, Mohali
• The circumstances that led to diversion of medical resources for VIP treatment

Khaira also demanded strict action against those found responsible and adequate compensation and justice for the family of the deceased.

“The people of Punjab deserve safety, equal medical treatment, and a government that prioritizes citizens over VIP privilege. The Bhagwant Mann government must answer for this tragic loss of life,” he said.
