Khaira slams SEC for willful dereliction of duty; says belated removal of tainted ARO enabled rejection of six Congress nominations

Sukhpal Singh Khaira

Sukhpal Singh Khaira, MLA ਭੁਲੱਥ, has strongly condemned the State Election Commission (SEC) for its gross negligence, administrative dishonesty, and willful dereliction of duty in handling the complaint against the ARO, Bholath.

Khaira said that although the SEC issued an order on 10 December 2025 removing Randip Waraich, EO Cum ARO Bholath, from all election duties relating to the 2025 Block Samiti elections, the action came far too late to prevent damage.

He clarified that the key issue is belated and delayed action of the SEC.
By issuing the removal order only after the ARO had already completed the scrutiny process, the SEC effectively allowed the tainted officer to reject the nomination papers of six Congress candidates, which was the very mischief he was accused of.
Khaira stated:

“The removal order of ARO Randip Waraich dated 10.12.2025 is both mischievous and belated, as his primary objective of rejecting six nomination papers of Congress candidates already stands accomplished. The SEC ought to have acted promptly on the very day the complaint was submitted ten days ago especially since this ARO is tainted and had already been indicted by the Election Commission of India during the Ludhiana West Assembly by-election.”

Khaira said this delayed action gravely compromises the integrity of the election process and raises suspicion of administrative complicity or deliberate inaction.

He demanded that the SEC immediately clarify:
1. Why was the complaint not acted upon promptly, despite the ARO’s tainted background?
2. Why was the removal order issued only after the ARO had already rejected six Congress nominations?
3. Whether this delay was intentional and politically motivated?

Khaira alleged that the
SEC failed to take cognizance of at least five complaints against Sho’s and other police officers of Bholath who not only registered false cases against Congress candidates but arrested and hounded them to create a scare amongst the voters, which again proved the inefficiency of the SEC.

Khaira reiterated that such conduct amounts to administrative misconduct, lack of transparency, and a direct assault on democratic norms.
