Moga: The dream of artisans making pots and other utensils in district Moga to produce world-class utensils is now becoming a reality. A 10-day training program has been started to enable these artisans to produce products with modern technology. All artisans are actively participating in this training program.
Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh said that 80 Pot and Utensil-making artisans of the Moga district have been selected, who will be equipped with modern technology under the Ghumar Shashktikaran Scheme and SIDBI Sponsored Grant Thornton Scheme. These pot and utensil-making artisans used to make only simple pots and utensils by hand, but now they will be given modern machines at a heavy subsidy (about 80per cent) after training.
He said that the district administration aims to train these artisans as soon as possible and provide them with machines so that they can earn more profit by selling products prepared with modern technology on the occasion of Diwali. He said that identity cards have been issued by forming a cluster of these artisans.
Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh said that it was fortunate that a large number of ‘pot and utensil maker’ families live here but due to some reasons, they could not organize themselves to uplift themselves economically. Now they are being organized and enabled to make world-class utensils by taking advantage of government schemes.
With this, the name of district Moga will come to the world level. He appealed to pot and utensil makers to come forward in building the glory of district Moga. He said that getting organized is the need of the hour to create a distinct identity and raise the economy.
He said that due to a lack of awareness, the common people are deprived of various benefits. Therefore, this effort has been made to provide them with the necessary guidance.
Present on this occasion, General Manager District Industry Center. Sukhminder Singh Rekhi said that an order has been given for the machinery to be given to these artisans. Soon Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh will distribute this machinery to the beneficiaries.
He specially thanked Mr Surat Singh District Coordinator KVIC, Sidbi representative Mr Samar Mourya and Mr. Manpreet Singh (who is supervising both the courses) for running this program successfully.
