New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha has faced suspension from the Rajya Sabha as of yesterday. In response to this significant development, Raghav Chadha has promptly updated his Twitter bio to reflect his suspended status. Previously, Chadha proudly proclaimed himself as a Member of Parliament in his Twitter handle’s bio; this has now been replaced with the designation “Suspended Member of Parliament.”
The Suspension came following allegations of inappropriate behavior during the discussions surrounding the ‘National Capital Territory Government of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023’ in the Rajya Sabha. Specifically, it is alleged that Chadha had proposed the formation of a select committee for the bill, including the names of four MPs – Sumitra Patra, S. Phangnan Konak, M. Thambidurai, and Narhari Amin – without obtaining their explicit consent.
Chadha’s suspension from the Rajya Sabha is pending the findings of the Privileges Committee, which will investigate the charges brought against him. It’s noteworthy that another AAP member, Sanjay Singh, was previously suspended from the Rajya Sabha, further impacting the party’s representation in the ongoing monsoon session.
