Sent a letter to Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Mann on 11 March 2023 via e-mail to take over the liquor business like Tamil Nadu to crack down on the liquor mafia. In which we wrote that the Tamil Nadu government has taken over the liquor business of 1983 and has earned more than 26 thousand crore rupees in 2021-22 . S. Navjot Singh Sidhu had said in a press conference on 11 January 2022 that if we control the liquor mafia like Tamil Nadu, then there can be an annual income of more than 50 thousand crore rupees. Sidhu also said that if the government clamps down on sand mafia , cable mafia advertising, the government can earn. But neither the previous governments have put an end to it nor the current AAP government is putting an end to the mafia state , due to which the government exchequer is losing billions of rupees.
Regarding the implementation of the Punjab Street Vendor Act of 2016 , a letter was sent by the forum to the Chief Minister on 28 May 2024 through e-mail, according to which the Municipal Corporation has to register street vendors. The municipal corporation has to take one thousand rupees per month from each street vendor. It has been more than 8 years , the Punjab government has not yet implemented this law and neither has it come out. In this way billions of rupees are being lost. Letters have been written about many other such issues which have not yet received any response.
This issue can be resolved only if a time is fixed for replying to the letters and after that time there is a provision to pay fines. The forum has appealed to all the MLAs to rise above partyism and raise this matter in the ongoing session. The leaders of the forum clarified that if the Punjab government does not do so, the forum will knock the door of the court.
