MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla Urges Canada to Launch Direct Toronto/Vancouver–Amritsar Flights

Gurjeet Singh Aujla MP Amritsar

Amritsar- MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla has written a warm and heartfelt letter to the Prime Minister of Canada, extending a gracious welcome on his visit to India and making a strong appeal for establishing a direct air connection between Toronto/Vancouver and Amritsar. Aujla highlighted that Amritsar is not just a geographical location but a spiritual and emotional homeland for millions across the world, especially the Punjabi diaspora living in Canada.

Emphasising that countless Canadian citizens travel long and difficult routes each year to reach the holy city, he said that a non-stop flight would serve as a powerful bridge connecting families separated by oceans, strengthening generational ties, promoting pilgrimage, and boosting tourism and trade. He stressed that such connectivity is not merely a matter of transportation but an emotional, cultural, and economic necessity that would honour the contribution of Punjabis abroad and reflect the deep-rooted friendship between India and Canada.

Aujla further noted that a direct air link would reunite families with dignity, support students and entrepreneurs, enhance bilateral trade, and enrich Canada’s multicultural fabric through the preservation of Punjabi heritage. Calling the proposed route a “lasting legacy of goodwill,” he said it would symbolise how nations grow stronger when they invest in the human bonds between their people. Concluding the letter, MP Aujla expressed that India, especially Amritsar, would be deeply honoured to welcome the Canadian Prime Minister, reaffirming his confidence that under the PM’s leadership, India and Canada would continue to strengthen their partnership through compassion, connection, and shared heritage.
