Birmingham, England – Preet Kaur Gill, the Labour Co-operative Member of Parliament for Birmingham Edgbaston (which includes areas like Woodgate and Bartley Green), has promoted a new opportunity for residents to take a leadership role in shaping investment under the government’s Pride in Place neighbourhood programme.
In her latest weekly update, Gill said she has been campaigning for £20 million of Pride in Place funding to be directed towards community regeneration in Woodgate and Bartley Green, addressing long-standing local challenges, including limited youth services and underfunded public facilities.
She called on local people to provide their views on how this investment should be spent to benefit the community and to ensure that community voices are at the heart of decision-making.
To support this initiative, Gill’s office has opened applications for an independent Chair of the Pride in Place Community Board for Woodgate and Bartley Green. This voluntary position will help establish and lead the new neighbourhood board, which will play a key role in guiding how the funding is used locally.
📅 Deadline: Applications for the Chair role must be submitted by 24 February 2026.
💼 Role: Independent Chair — voluntary position to lead the Pride in Place Community Board and help ensure investment priorities are shaped by residents.
Gill has emphasised that this is a chance for local people to help shape improvements — whether in youth services, community hubs, outdoor spaces, employment support, or other priorities identified by residents.
