The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), under the leadership of Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal, expresses deep concern and shock over the latest major recovery of illegal drugs by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). This unprecedented seizure once again exposes the dangerous reality that Punjab continues to face—an entrenched, industrial-scale drug network that cannot be dismissed with mere political slogans.
Chahal said that recently NCB seized 611 kg of psychotropic powder, 573 kg of tramadol bulk mixture, 12 lakh tablets, 50,000 tramadol ampoules and 5,000 midazolam vials—a staggering quantity that clearly indicates large-scale, organized production. With this latest breakthrough, the total seizures linked to this network have now risen to 34 lakh tablets, 10.57 lakh cough syrup bottles, 1,613 kg of raw material, and 573 kg of tramadol bulk mixture, valued at approximately Rs 600 crore.
NAPA believes this enormous recovery is not just another case of drug trafficking; it is a wake-up call for the entire state administration and society at large. When such quantities are being manufactured, transported and distributed, it raises a serious question: How can anyone claim that illegal drugs have ended in Punjab?
These numbers are not small misdeeds—they represent a fully operational, industrial-level criminal empire that has infiltrated systems, exploited youth, and endangered generations. NAPA stresses that political claims of “nasha mukti” or “end of drugs” are meaningless unless backed by consistent, large-scale enforcement and strict dismantling of the networks behind these operations.
Chahal stated that this recovery should compel the government to intensify its actions, strengthen cross-agency coordination, and ensure that the masterminds—often shielded by power and money—are brought to justice .
NAPA urges both the Union and State governments to treat this case as a turning point. The people of Punjab deserve safety, honesty, and a genuine battle against narcotics—not announcements that contradict the ground reality.
