Chandigarh — North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) has expressed deep concern over the recurring flood situation in Punjab. Highlighting the striking similarities with the devastating floods of 2023, NAPA Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal criticized the Punjab government for repeating past mistakes and failing to implement adequate preventive measures.
“Thousands of families are once again facing severe hardships, including a lack of food, clean water, and shelter. While social and religious organisations are working tirelessly to support the victims, the government’s response remains largely reactive,” Chahal said.
Chahal emphasised the need for a proactive approach, urging the government to prioritise the well-being of the flood victims above all else. He called for transparent monitoring and efficient implementation of relief measures to ensure they promptly reach the affected areas and individuals.
Furthermore, Chahal encouraged the state to involve local authorities, NGOs, and community leaders in the relief efforts to ensure that assistance reaches those who need it the most, thereby promoting a holistic approach to rehabilitation and recovery.
