NAPA Condemns Attack on AAP Leader Daljit Raju; Questions Safety of Public if Ruling Party Leaders Are Not Safe

The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) strongly condemns the shocking armed attack on the residence of AAP leader and Yudh Nasheya Virudh Phagwara Coordinator, Daljit Raju, in Darvesh village near Phagwara. The brutal incident, which occurred shortly after 1:13 AM on the intervening night of November 26–27, has created a wave of fear across the region and exposed the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab.

According to reports, two unidentified masked assailants opened fire on Raju’s residence, firing nearly 23–24 rounds before fleeing the scene. Four sheets of paper reading “Kala Rana Group — 5 crore” were thrown inside the premises, indicating a possible extortion angle behind the attack. The incident was captured on CCTV, further highlighting the boldness with which criminals now operate in Punjab without fear of consequences.

NAPA Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal expressed deep concern, stating that if leaders of the ruling party themselves are unsafe in their own homes, ordinary people cannot possibly feel secure. He said the incident reflects a disturbing rise in organized crime, extortion networks, and fearless criminal activity across the state, raising questions about the government’s ability to maintain public safety.

NAPA urges the Punjab government and law enforcement agencies to immediately launch a high-level investigation, arrest the attackers, and dismantle any extortion networks linked to the incident. The association demands stronger security measures for public representatives as well as ordinary citizens, and calls for transparent, swift action to restore the shaken confidence of the people.

NAPA stands in solidarity with Daljit Raju and his family during this traumatic episode and calls upon all political parties to put aside differences and work collectively to ensure peace, safety, and justice for every citizen of Punjab.
