NAPA Urges Union Government to Adopt a Positive Approach Toward Punjab’s Issues and Concerns

The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) Executive Director, Satnam Singh Chahal, has urged the Union Government of India to adopt a positive, respectful and solution-oriented approach toward the issues and concerns of Punjab. Chahal emphasized that addressing Punjab’s challenges is not merely a state-level matter but a crucial national responsibility, because strengthening Punjab ultimately strengthens the entire country.

Chahal stated that Punjab has always stood at the forefront of India’s progress—whether through ensuring food security during the Green Revolution, safeguarding national borders, or contributing significantly to the global economy through its hardworking diaspora. Despite these immense contributions, many important issues affecting Punjab—such as agricultural reforms, industrial decline, river-water disputes, border security, and equitable financial support—have remained unresolved for years. He stressed that sincere cooperation from the Union government is essential for lasting solutions.

He further said that Punjab’s concerns should not be viewed through political or partisan lenses. Instead, they must be addressed with a national perspective that recognizes the state’s unique challenges and its vital role in India’s overall growth. Chahal highlighted that fair MSP guarantees, support for crop diversification, industrial revival, development of border districts, and strong youth and anti-drug initiatives require active involvement from the central government.

Chahal emphasized that a prosperous Punjab directly contributes to a stronger India. When Punjab progresses, it enhances national food security, boosts exports, strengthens border stability, and contributes to economic resilience. He added that cooperative federalism must be practiced in spirit, not just on paper, and that transparent and respectful dialogue between the Union and the state is essential.

In conclusion, Chahal urged the Union Government to treat Punjab as a partner in nation-building rather than a political battleground. Every positive step taken toward addressing Punjab’s concerns will not only uplift the state but will also make India more stable, united and prosperous.orst of the worst criminal illegal aliens.
