Peel and Halton Police Recover $400,000 in Stolen Mail; Sumanpreet Singh, Gurdeep Chattha Among Eight Charged

Mississauga-In a major breakthrough against organized mail theft, Peel Regional Police, in collaboration with Halton Regional Police and Canada Post investigators, have recovered over $400,000 worth of stolen mail, uncovering a large-scale theft ring operating across the Region of Peel.

The investigation, launched in April 2025, revealed a coordinated network targeting residential mailboxes, resulting in the theft of hundreds of financial and identification documents. The months-long probe led to search warrants executed on September 8 and 9 at multiple Mississauga locations, including Rhinebank Street, Brandon Gate Drive, Dwiggin Avenue, and Kittridge Drive.

Police recovered more than 450 pieces of stolen mail, including credit cards, government IDs, gift cards, and over 250 cheques, collectively valued at more than $400,000 CAD.

As a result, eight men have been arrested and face a total of 344 charges related to theft, fraud, and possession of stolen property. Those charged are:

All accused were held for bail hearings and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police are working with the Peel Crown Attorney’s Office and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to determine whether deportation proceedings will be pursued against any of the accused who are foreign nationals.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant, retrieve mail promptly, and report any suspicious activity near community mailboxes.
