London-Labour MP for Birmingham Edgbaston, Preet Kaur Gill, held a street surgery in the Bartley Green area, meeting residents on Hayley Green Road to listen firsthand to the issues affecting the local community. The informal engagement allowed constituents to speak directly with their MP about everyday concerns, ranging from local services and housing to cost-of-living pressures and community safety.
Speaking after the interaction, Preet Kaur Gill emphasised the importance of being accessible and accountable to the people she represents. She said that hearing directly from residents helps ensure that their voices shape her work in Parliament and guide the priorities she raises with government and local authorities.
Reaffirming her commitment to grassroots engagement, the Birmingham Edgbaston MP announced that she will be holding street surgeries every week across the constituency. The initiative aims to make it easier for residents to raise concerns, seek support, and stay connected with their elected representative without barriers.
Gill added that regular street surgeries strengthen trust between communities and their MP, ensuring that local issues are not only heard but actively followed up. She encouraged residents to take part in upcoming sessions and share their experiences so that their concerns can be effectively represented at Westminster.
