Amritsar- Punjab BJP Spokesperson Professor Sarchand Singh Khayla has appealed to the Congress Chief Minister of the state Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu to ensure the safety of the youth and pilgrims from Punjab, taking a strong note of the atrocities being committed by the local people and the police on the Punjabi youth in Himachal Pradesh.
He said that if the Punjabi youths returning from Manikarna Sahib have violated any law, then the police can take legal action against them, but those people full of hate have no right to raise hands on the Punjabi youths in the presence of the police. He said that the law is equal for everyone and the law should do its job and strict action should be taken against the violators. He said that Congress is in government in Himachal and Congress should not have any problem with Sikh youth like before, they need to change their thinking towards Sikh youth. He said that this is not the first time that Punjabi youth have been mistreated in Himachal. Earlier in March 2023, apart from misbehaving with Punjabis who had gone on pilgrimage to Gurdwara Shri Manikaran Sahib, the local unruly mischievous people there had committed open hooliganism and caused heavy damage to the vehicles of Punjabis. He said that if the security of Punjabis is not ensured in Himachal, then Himachal will suffer huge financial loss, because the main source of Himachal’s income is tourism. Due to such unfortunate incidents in Himachal Pradesh last year, people from Punjab and Delhi are preferring to leave Himachal and go to Jammu and Kashmir or other hill states.
He advised the youth of Punjab to go to other states and understand the sentiments of the local people there and follow the law instead of creating any kind of tension. He said that passengers should follow the code of conduct for their motorcycle or vehicle and try to avoid collisions. He said that it is unfortunate that there was a clash between locals and devotees, but no incident should be given a communal color in any way. Some people harbor hatred towards the youth of Punjab, while Punjab and the youth of Punjab are staunch nationalists. He said that Punjabis are symbols of communal harmony, Punjab and Punjabis have helped other states in every difficult time.
