Amritsar- A huge protest was held outside the Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee office under the leadership of Damdami Taksal chief saint Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa for the restoration of the Jathedars of the three Takht Sahibans. A memorandum was given to Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee, regarding the demand for the restoration of the Jathedars. It was announced that if the demand is not met by April 15, then the next program will be prepared.
Recently, there was a lot of anger in the Sikh organizations over the arbitrary changes made by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in the jathedars of the three Takht Sahibs of the Sikhs. Regarding this, Saint Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, the head of Damdami Mint, visited the Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee office at Anandpur Sahib on March 14. An angry sit-in was announced outside Teja Singh Samudri Hall.
A large number of Sant Samaj and all Sikh organizations under the leadership of Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Chief Khalsa Diwan, Nihang Singh Organizations, Panthak Organizations and Sangat today started a huge protest at the Golden Gate in New Amritsar and then took out a peaceful protest march towards Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee office as a convoy. A convoy of sectarian organizations has reached outside the premises of Sri Harmandir Sahib, where a dharna has been held after the convoy was stopped by the police and the recitation of Sri Sukhmani Sahib ji has started there. And shouted.
During the Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee meeting at Sri Amritsar Sahib, the following three resolutions were passed under the leadership of Damdami Taksal Chief Sant Gyani Harnam Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale, President Sant Samaj and all organizations and Sikh Sant Samaj, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Chief Khalsa Dewan, Nihang Singh organizations, panthic organizations and Sangat. Which was handed over to Shiromani Committee Chairman Harjinder Singh Dhami. All the Sangats and Saints participating in the protest rally through the first resolution confirm resolution number one of the Panthak Samagam held at Sri Anandpur Sahib on March 14, 2025. Through which the appointment of Bhai Kuldeep Singh Gargaj and Baba Tek Singh Dhanula as Jathedars of Takht Sahiban was cancelled.
Resolution 2: The Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee asked Jathedar Singh Sahib Gyani Raghbir Singh Ji of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Jathedar Singh Sahib Gyani Sultan Singh Ji of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib and Jathedar Singh Sahib Gyani Harpreet Singh Ji of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib to immediately hand over their services as Jathedars of Takht Sahibs. And respect the sentiments of the cult. The third proposal demanded that the process of appointment and dismissal of Jathedars of Takht Sahibs should be prepared by taking into account Sikh sects, Damdami Taksal, Nihang Singh organizations, Chief Khalsa Diwan, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Singh Sabhas, Sabha Societies and Sikh scholars. The Sikh organizations also warned that the Jathedars of the three Takht Sahibans should be reinstated before Tuesday 15 April 2025 keeping in mind the sentiments of the entire Sikh community and the new appointments should be cancelled. If the Singh Sahibans are not restored by 15 April 2025, the next program will be prepared in consultation with Sikh Panths, Damdami Taksal, Sant Samaj, Nihang Singh Organizations, Chief Khalsa Diwan, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Sikh Sangat.
Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, who is leading the protest march, said that his protest march is purely religious, under which the main demand is the reinstatement of retired Jathedars. He told the media that this protest march has no political purpose and is a peaceful protest. The manner in which the Jathedars of the Executive Committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee were recently retired has caused great anger throughout the Sikh world. I understand that the resignation of Sardar Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Committee, was also a major reason, which has caused every Sikh’s heart to be saddened and has caused great resentment within the Sikh community. The Sant Samaj held a meeting at Sri Anandpur Sahib on March 14, in which a resolution was passed to reinstate the removed Jathedars. He said that some people are making random comments about today’s religious ceremony, which is not correct. Whenever religious issues have come up, sectarian organizations, societies and sects have come forward and raised their voices. I would like to say that Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee is a great organization of Sikh Panth which has been doing great religious service under the service of Panth. We do not want any confrontation with Shiromani Committee. In response to a question, he said that one thing I want to ask is who asked the Akalis to retire the Singh Sahibs of their own free will? Did the Delhi government say so? You can also take a wrong decision and blame the Delhi government for that wrong decision, with whom you had a partnership for 30 years and who ruled the state along with the people of Delhi. Hum Sant Samaj played the most important role in establishing the rule of these people twice in Punjab.
Hitting back at Delhi Akali Dal leader Pramjit Sarna, he said that Sarna was called an agent of the Congress, who violated Sikh principles for 15 years, then the sect expelled him from Delhi and today this rejected person is infiltrating the Akali Dal to spoil the atmosphere in Punjab.
On this occasion, Haryana Committee leader Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal said that Shiromani Committee has a big responsibility, which has to stop this conflict. There is no struggle from our side, but when the Badal family has made the situation so worse and weakened all our institutions and principles, even the dignity and traditions of Akal Takht Sahib have been destroyed in this way, what is left for us? So for this reason, I believe that today all his companions have been sidelined one by one due to great sins. Today, if Sant Gnani Harnam Singh Khalsa is also dissociating from him and appealing to the sect that the doctrines are being destroyed and we should save them, then surely some great injustice must have been committed. So today they have raised their voice, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, which are two elected bodies after SGPC, have also supported this call that the call made by Damdami Taksal should be made peacefully by our big organization Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and its members in the General House. Resolutions passed by the executive have been rejected in the past. When the deal was to seek forgiveness from the saint, it too had to be canceled due to pressure from the cult. Just as due to the pressure of the cult and the order of the Akal Takht, Guru Ki Golak’s amount of more than 90 lakh rupees was returned to Sukhbir Singh Badal, in the same way Sukhbir Singh Badal had to return Guru Ki Golak.
Sardar Harmeet Singh Kalka, president of the Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee, said that the whole world knows that the Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee has been playing within the boundaries for the past few years, the way it is being run and the decisions it has taken, are causing protests among Sikhs all over the world today. I can say that the decision of Baba Harnam Singh ji Khalsa, head of Damdami Taksal, to protest is right, because the decisions taken by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee against the Jathedars and the process of removing the Jathedars are being violated. We understand our duty and stand with those organizations which uphold the principles of Akal Takht Sahib.
