Chandigarh-Former Health Minister of Punjab and senior Congress leader Balbir Sidhu has condemned the Aam Aadmi Party for opposing the Congress Party’s proposal in the Assembly seeking to award the Bharat Ratna to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, saying that it has become clear that the Aam Aadmi Party used the name of Shaheed Bhagat Singh only to win the elections in 2022.
Sidhu protested against the behavior of Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan, saying that despite belonging to a nationalist family, it is very shameful for him not to approve the proposal seeking Bharat Ratna award to Bhagat Singh. He said that by taking such a decision Aam Aadmi Party has shown its opportunism. He further said that Aam Aadmi Party leaders are so-called revolutionaries who adopt double standards on every issue.
The Congress leader said that by opposing the proposal to give Bharat Ratna to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, the Aam Aadmi Party has not only insulted Shaheed Bhagat Singh, but also insulted all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to liberate the country.
Sidhu said that the censure motion brought against Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa by the ruling party in the assembly yesterday was a deliberate move so that the opposition could not expose the hollowness of the budget. He said that this trick was also done so that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann could make fun of the opposition by giving a hollow speech and make him a target.
Criticizing the budget presented by the AAP government, the Congress leader said that this budget is another example of the failure of the AAP government. He said that there is no direction, no plan and nothing new for the welfare of the state in the budget. He said that the budget has concealed the real financial situation of Punjab, which is the worst among all the states in the country, except one.
Sidhu said that even after three years, the Bhagwant Maan government has completely failed to fulfill its promises to Punjabis. The party has done nothing but print false advertisements and make false promises. He said that the AAP government has once again failed to fulfill its biggest promise of giving Rs 1100 per month to every woman.
