Sukhpal Singh Khaira Mla has demanded a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the alleged deep rooted nexus between the drug mafia and powerful police officers in Punjab. The arrest of Constable Amandip Kaur at a police checkpoint has brought to light shocking revelations about the involvement of law enforcement in the illicit drug trade, raising serious questions about the integrity of the police force.
During her arrest, Constable Kaur reportedly boasted of her connections with a senior IPS officer, hinting at a well entrenched network that facilitates the drug mafia’s operations. Khaira asserted that this incident has opened a Pandora’s box, exposing the rot within the police system. “If a thorough investigation is conducted into this drug seizure case, it will unravel the extent of corruption and complicity among powerful officers,”
Khaira stated.
In a related development, a leaked audio conversation has further fueled concerns, with fingers being pointed at the same senior IPS officer, who currently holds a coveted posting allegedly under the patronage of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The audio has laid bare the officer’s alleged immorality and involvement in illegal activities, which Khaira claims is not an isolated incident. “This officer has a history of such misconduct, with multiple writs filed against him in the High Court,” Khaira added.
Demanding accountability and transparency, Khaira has called for an independent inquiry by an agency like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the drug mafia-police nexus. “The people of Punjab deserve justice. Only an impartial investigation can expose the truth and dismantle this unholy alliance,” he emphasized.
Khaira said his demand underscores the urgent need to address corruption within the police force and restore public trust in the system.
