BATHINDA: Punjab govt’s move to install inauguration plaques for
even the repair of toilets in schools, as part of its recently launched
‘Sikhya Kranti’ (education revolution) initiative, has sparked a
meme fest on social media.
Users on social media have started trolling AAP leaders by saying
ṭhat they were taking credit even for routine things like repairs.
Questions are also being raised over the govt mindlessly spending
money on getting such plaques installed. Even when they have
not inaugurated the works, the names of Chief Minister Bhagwant
Mann and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains have been
placed prominently on the plaques, while the name of the local
MLA comes under them.
On social media, people are pointing out that before gaining power, when Mann was the MP of Sangrur and even
in the initial days of AAP govt in Punjab, such plaques were avoided. If a plaque was installed, the name of those
who contributed to the work was not etched in the plaque. Photos of two such plaques have already gone viral
online, clicked at Shaheed Sepoy Dalip Singh Govt Senior Secondary School, Ghunas, Barnala, and the second at
Govt Senior Secondary Smart School, Bhagu, Fazilka.
