
Today, Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor was the chief guest and he inaugurated the festival by ligting the ceremonial lamps. Prof. Harvinder Singh Saini, Dean, Students’ Welfare extended welcome to Prof. Karamjeet Singh and other guests. On this occasion, Registrar Prof. Karamjit Singh Chahal, In-charge of Golden Jubilee Center, Dr. Balwinder Singh, Youth Welfare In-charge, Dr. Amandeep Singh, Dr. Ashwani Luthra, Prof. Kamlesh Guleria, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Security Officer Harvinder Singh Sandhu, members of the University Cultural Activities Committee, students, teachers and volunteers were present.
Prof. Karamjeet Singh in his address said that cultural & artistic activities have several practical impacts. By participating in such activities, students become more passionate and more confident. Prof. Singh commended the anti-drug campaign led by the Government of India and the Government of Punjab, highlighting that the university campus is currently drug-free. He urged students to refrain from all forms of drugs and to embrace a healthy lifestyle. He emphasized that each student serves as a brand ambassador for the university and encouraged them to engage in various constructive activities aimed at fostering a healthy society while enhancing the reputation of Guru Nanak Dev University.
Prof. Harvinder Singh Saini in his welcome address said that the University is committed to nurture internal qualities of students through research, academics, sports, arts and other innovative activities and the main objective of such celebrations as ‘Jashan’ is to hone the hidden talent within the students. He said that the student-artists from various department of the University are participating in the domains of Dance, Music, Fine Arts, Literary activities and Theater.
Today, the competitions of Bhangra, Skit, Choreography, Mimicry, Notanki, Geet Gazal, Folk Song, Poetical Symposium, and Extempore were oganized. On April 18, Shabad Bhajan, Western Group Dance, Creative Group Dance, Short Film Making, Instrumental (Percussion & Non-Percussion), Western Vocal Solo, Cartooning, Poster Making, Painting on the Spot, Flower Arrangement, Collage, Rangoli, On the Spot Theme Photography, Mehandi, Clay Modelling, and Debate will be held. On April 19 Dance to Tune, Gidha, Quiz, will be organized and Prize Distribution function will be held in the Dasmesh Auditorium of the University.
