New Delhi |The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi Government registered a First Information Report (FIR) against former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and former PWD minister Satyendar Jain on Wednesday over alleged corruption in the construction of classrooms. Officials said the scam is to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore in connection with the construction of 12,748 classrooms or buildings during the tenure of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
Madhur Verma, Head, ACB, confirmed the registration of the FIR. “Chief Technical Examiner’s report of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) pointed out several anomalies in the project and the report was kept under the carpet for about three years. The case was registered after permission u/s 17-A POC Act was received from the competent authority,” he said.
Officials said the project was reportedly awarded to some contractors associated with the AAP. Significant deviations and cost escalations were observed, and not a single work was completed within the prescribed period. They added that the consultant and architect for the project were appointed without following due procedure, and cost escalations were carried out through them
